Pool Babies started lessons at a new Swimming Pool on 8th September, between Wilberfoss and Pocklington, 7 miles south east of York on the A1079, next to the Steer Inn Restaurant / Squirrels. It is called the Lynby Pool.
At this pool we provide lessons for babies from 6 month onwards, toddlers, and main swimming lessons for older children.
As the Pool is next door to the Steer Inn Restaurant, an excellent & popular restaurant, we have negotiated a discount for you.
If you pop in either during or after a lesson - you can enjoy tea, coffee, a fully licensed bar, snacks, main meals and healthy option kids meal. There is also an under-cover play area for the under 7’s.
Pool Babies are constantly looking to provide swimming lessons closer to your area. We now offer lessons at 7 different swimming pools in the York area. In York, the Royal York Hotel and Burnholme, then at Strensall, New Earswick, Stamford Bridge, Pocklington and now near Wilberfoss.

26 February 2008 - Intensive Crash Swimming Courses
We offer crash courses to all child age groups in the May and October half term, Easter and Summer Holidays. The sessions cover all abilities including beginners, improvers, length & speed swimming. These are usually run from Stamford Bridge Primary School pool and consist of intensive 40 minutes sessions once per day for five days. Before each child is enrolled, we discuss with parents to understand each participants water experience, and what they hope to achieve from the week. We listen to the child in the lessons and work to achieve the aims set at the start of the week. We would aim for even the most nervous non-swimmer to be able to confidently self rescue by the end of the week. Many children are able to cover a distance of between 5-10 metres after the intensive sessions. These sessions are an excellent way to introduce a child to swimming lessons as the daily sessions build up early confidence for a longer term course of swimming lessons.
