Pool Babies Accessibility Statement

Pool Babies is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

Web Accessibility Initiative

This website endeavours to conform to level A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.

These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for all people.

W3C Standards

This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for XHTML and CSS. The site displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant XHTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

Exceptions

Whilst Pool Babies strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall accessibility. In the meantime should you experience any difficulty in accessing the Pool Babies website, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Text Equivalents

A text equivalent has been provided for every non-text element, including images, animated elements, applications and spacers. This has been achieved through the use of Alt or Title tags as appropriate, and can be viewed in most browsers by hovering your mouse cursor over the element.

Colour

No site content relies purely on colour to convey meaning, and every effort has been made to ensure that colour contrasts are sufficient to be readable by colour-impared users or in greyscale.

Use of Stylesheets

This website uses 'clean' XHTML and CSS Markup in conjunction with external stylesheets to allow for faster page and website loading, and the ability to selectively view content in plain text without styling, colour, sizing and layout.

Known Accessibility Issues

Use of Tables

Currently, our website uses nested tables for layout purposes. This is a known issue, and though these tables degrade and linearlise gracefully, we are aware that this may cause accessibility issues.

Fixed Font Sizes

Fixed font sizes are used throughout the site for styling purposes. However, the website can be viewed with stylesheets disabled and relative font sizes enabled to allow for resizing without any hindrance to the delivery of content.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and until we have completed development of our table-free layout, we invite you to contact us for any support or advice that we can offer.
